A Very Important Letter!

Tuesday, July 19, 2016
Dear Secretary Burwell,
As a member of the U.S. Pain Foundation and a stakeholder in our nation's fight against chronic pain. I am deeply concerned by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid's proposed Medicare Part B Payment model.
By prioritizing lower costs over patient choice and physicians judgement, this rule will limit access to medication for people living with chronic pain from conditions including cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis. These medications make living with these conditions possible, and limiting access would inflict undue suffering on people living with chronic pain.
For that reason, I strongly urge you to push CMS to reconsider and withdraw the proposed payment model. Maintaining access to these lifesaving medications are of the utmost importance to the patients, family members, and healthcare.
Sincerely,
Garin Harris
U.S. Pain Foundation Ambassador
